The “Aprendiz Legal” (Legal Apprentice) program offers creative, interdisciplinary training that includes practical work experience and theoretical instruction to encourage young people to be leaders.
The program also provides support to companies in complying with the Apprentice Law, which sets quotas for medium-sized and large companies of between 5% and 15% for the hiring of young people between the ages of 14 and 24. In addition, companies must provide job training to these young people. The apprentice quotas are not only a legal obligation, but also an opportunity for companies to train and prepare future colleagues in the corporate culture.
The program has been implemented in 25 states in Brazil by the Center for Business-School Integration (CIEE, by its Portuguese acronym) and by Gerar, a two-year program that offers training in 11 areas, including administration, retail and wholesale sales, operations, manufacturing, and tourism and hospitality.
